Be part of the beginning of the UCSD Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service at a brand new center in the Price Center expansion! Let’s work to expand the opportunities for high school students around California to access education at UCSD and to build community within our campus to retain our peers already studying here. This is Cycle II of the hiring process when we finally move into the new center. A number of exciting paid internships are available, check them all out at http://spaces.ucsd.edu !

SPEAK OUT Week 2008! THIS WEEK!
ALL of THIS Week!
Speak Out! Tritons for a Hate-Free Campus is an annual event at UCSD featuring a week of exciting events designed to increase awareness of prejudice, hate, and intercultural relations on campus. The week, organized by UCSD Inter-Group Relations will feature events like a rally on Tuesday April 22nd with a performance by trancenDANCE and a film screening of “Walkout!”, the true story of the 1968 L.A. student walkouts. This screening will include a discussion with teacher Sal Castro!

SAAC Board 2009!
Members of of the community and of various SAAC organizations meet weekly to discuss how we collaborate to create social justice on campus and in our communities. The group is comprised of members from various organizations as well as members with administrative positions within SAAC (such as SAAC chair and Ourstorian). The Real World San Diego:
DAY 1 – Mindfullness & Breathing Retreat at Deer Park Monestary
April 27 from 830am – 200pm, Transportation will be provided and will leave from the Cross-Cultural Center at 800am.
The Real World Program is a multiple day event that will introduce participants to different areas of San Diego. The goal of this program is not to enhance the participants understanding of social justice, cultural awareness, political issues, or raise activism, but to realize their privileges as an activist, as a student, and as a community member. It is to encourage participants to be self-reflective on their own identity and those who they fight for.
* Note: All participants MUST attend the post-program report held on Thursday, May 22 at 6pm in the Cross-Cultural Center. There is a 30 participant max. A fee of $10.00 per event to aid in subsiding for the food and the donations.

InterFaith Coalition for Justice
Come discuss the issues surrounding the intersection of spirituality and justice. Everyone is welcome. Join us on Thursday, April 17 at 6:30pm at the Cross-Cultural Center

Justice in Palestine Week
The UCSD Muslim Student Association is currently planning a week-long awareness effort for Spring 7th week. Join MSA if you are interested in being part of the planning on Thursdays at the Cross-Cultural Center at 7pm. Contact Hashim, the SAAC representative for MSA at hsahmed@ucsd.edu with any questions you may have.

Rally for Immigrant Rights
Wednesday April 23rd, meet at 11:30 at the Cross-Cultural Center
Join the UCSD Southeast Asian Collective (SEAC) in this important state-wide rally against deportations of immigrant families across the country as a result of unjust immigration laws that affect both undocumented and documented families. The rally will take place at the free-speech zones in front of Geisel.

Coming Out Group
Tuesdays at 5pm, Cross-Cultural Center
The Coming Out Group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender identities in a confidential setting. This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight or questioning folks who are coming out and who may already be out. Topics are determined by group participants, and can include coming out to yourself, coming out to family, coming out to friends, coming out and the work place, and coming out at school.
